Ubuntu 2024 is a joint conference between The Network: Towards Unity for Health (TUFH) and Rural WONCA (The Working Party on Rural Practice). It’s bringing together the TUFH 2024 Annual Conference for TUFH, which is celebrating it’s 45th anniversary in 2024, and the 20th WONCA World Rural Health Conference!

This conference is being co-hosted by 5 partners in Cape Town, South Africa:
University of the Western Cape; University of Cape Town; Stellenbosch University; Cape Peninsula University of Technology, and the Department of Health and Wellness – Western Cape Government.

This joint conference has been named Ubuntu 2024; referring to the meaning of Ubuntu “I am, because you are”.

Ubuntu 2024 will be a fully hybrid conference. We strongly recommend attending in person, but for those unable to travel, we will provide the opportunity for virtual participation.

For Ubuntu 2024, we will be accepting abstracts in International English. The word limit for abstracts is 250-words. The conference formats are chosen to encourage active participation by all conference attendees. The conference program will predominantly be based on contributions from the participants.

Since Ubuntu 2024 will be a physical conference with a virtual component, you will have to choose in your application if you wish to present your abstract in person in Cape Town, South Africa, or virtually. Abstracts that will be presented in person will receive priority in the abstract acceptance process.

You will have to select the sub-theme you are submitting under.
There are 5 types you can submit an abstract for Oral Presentations, Workshops, UbuntuTalks, Free Paper Sessions and Ubuntu Documentaries. For more information see here.

Ubuntu 2024 is a Conference that brings together an international and intersectoral audience to discuss People, Place, and Policy for Community Wellness and further explore the four sub-themes of:

  1. Building Equity for Rural Health
  2. Community Engagement for Local and Global Health
  3. Social and Health Policies for the Public Good
  4. Educating the Health Workforce

You must first create an account, to be able to submit your abstract.
